The Wisconsin DNR publishes a report each year about the migration of steelhead, brown trout, Chinook salmon, and coho salmon from Lake Superior up the Brule River to spawn.
The steelhead run begins in late March in the spring and extends through May. Some of the steelhead over winter in the Brule River. The Lake-run brown trout begin appearing in the river in early July and extend through late October. The salmon also enter the river in late summer through the Fall to spawn.
